My Eulogy to Mama

My Eulogy to Mama
*16.02.2007*

People always say "its only after you lost someone, that you realised how important he/she is to you"..I finally realised the impact of this statement today... I woke up this morning, walked out to the dinning area, there was no breakfast (no prata, no pohpiah, no noodles, nothing) wating for me...Reality sets in and I remembered... Mama has gone home to be with the Lord...

Mama was a woman of Love...she was a compassionate and generous lady..She was nice to everyone. All who knows her remembers her as a friendly lady who was always wearing a smile. If you think that I am sociable and make frens easily..well Mama beats me to it...She makes friends easily and always carry a smile in her greetings... She cares for all her friends and also her family.. Mama demonstrated her love to us through her sweet loving ways..

No matter if its day or night... she was always there to make sure all of us were well taken care of..She spares a thought for all of us..and often puts us before herself.. She was a great cook..Mama always felt that it was her duty to cook for all of us..she didnt want us to be hungry and never wanted us to skip any meals.. She will always say *in teochew* "never eat will starve". She never once did complained about cooking for us, as she sees joy in doing so, even if we were not home for dinner...

She will boil soup for us when we're coughing and also nurse us back to health... When she's not cooking, she makes it a point to buy food for us..Often she will wake up early in the morning, sometimes braving the heavy rain to go to the market to get food for us.while neglecting her own health and stomach as well..cos she will always say...*in teochew* "no breakfast in the morning..not good"

Mama was a woman of strength...she was down with stroke since 1996, but that didnt deter her from doing what she love doing.. She fought her condition hard, holding on to the little hope in mind that she wants to see all of us grow up, always worrying about us... She was a strong lady and always took things and handled things on her own..She didnt want us to be worried about her so she would not see doctor..

Despite her being weak physically... God had used her mightily in the ministry that He had planned for her.. She was close to the ederly people in the neighbourhood and had been given the chance to fellowship with them and encouraged them in their difficult moments too..She had and made many friends in the neighbourhood, both young and old...people from all races would remember her always greeting them and her goodness... (her volunteers at the senior citizens area, she cooks for the ederly folks in the neighbourhood, and she buys things for them too)..

Mama was always concern for our well being..Everyone of us, no matter how old we were, she would still regard us a child in her eyes.. She was worried about us staying up late, worried about us coming home late and bumming into dubious charaters..She was concern about the frens we had and often tell me *In teochew* "Be careful in making and choosing frens..dun end up later regretting. I teach u..must listen.."

Mama shares the same room as me, She cant really see in the dark but she doesnt like to wake me up to go to the toilet at night...and she will make her own way there..This i know is because..she doesnt want to disturb me from my sleep and rest...Being in the same room, i hear her snore every night... I've gotten used to her loud snoring and so i am trained to sleep like a pig anywhere i go...But last night..i couldnt sleep even though the room was soo quiet.. It was too quiet...i couldnt sleep..cos i miss Mama's snoring...

I am going to miss mama cooking too.. Just a few days back I was just telling my fren that i want to learn cooking from mama this year..so that in future i can cook as well as her for my children and grandchildren... But i guess its too late now..

Nonetheless, I know and I'm sure she has gone to a better place.. a place close to God, as God has held her close to His heart... God has prepared a place for her and she is resting there now, waiting for the day we all return to our Heavenly Father's kingdom..to be together with her. She always love reunion...and i'm sure she is very happy now to see everyone of us gathered here...

Meanwhile.. i'm sure God has plans for her and us all..we being her children, grandchildren, relatives and treasured friends should Live on...and be happy and take good care of ourselves..because mama is no longer physically here with us...We should pine and look forward to the day we are reunited with her... and know that Mama is always here with us..in our hearts and will always be...as we continue to live Life like our beloved Mama.....
