Was over at the Merlion park last Sunday, after church, together with Ryn, Char and Benz (our thailand fren who came over for a visit) and so we were bringing Benz around to take pics etc...and we chance upon the Merlion..
Gosh...goodness gracious... look at the pic I took using my Phone... Dont the merlion look Damn unsightly??? it looks as though the merlion is vomitting or bleeding profuselyfrom the Mouth la... SOOOO UGLY..and i think its a shame and embarassing that our National Symbol *one that the country is sooo Proud of* is in such a bad condition..
Dun they do any maintenance at all?? well i emailed Spore Tourism board.. (haha i am 'damn free' and kay poh huh??) and here's the reply i Got:
"Thank you for your feedback.We wish to inform you that STB has engaged a cleaning contractor to carryout the cleaning works four times a year. The cleaning will take place inMarch, June, September and December 2007. STB is fully aware of theunpleasant condition of the Merlion and we will do our very best to keepour Merlion clean and standing proud.Thank you for taking time and effort to write to us."
I mean.. since it is the national symbol.. and also day in and day out there are tourists visiting the Merlion... doesnt it make sense to increase the number of times the maintenance is done?? or the very least is at least to do a check every now and then to make sure the Fungus growing does not grow to the extend of making the merlion look as though it is bleeding from the mouth??
Oh wellz.. i did my part as a "helpful' citizen... notified them bout the image we are potraying to the world...its up to them to decide liaoz.... =) and haha i think i might just email this pic to STOMP as well =)
