Mission Trip 2010-Orlango

Mission Trip 2010-Orlango
Pic above: at the port of Orlango.... Nice place right... really make us felt like jumping into the water then... hahaha

After touching down on 12th June at Ceb Lapu Lapu... we left lapu2 for Orlango on 13th june early in the morning at bout 5.30am...

Shi Yi and me, on our way to Orlango at 5.30am
Yes (the pic above with Shi Yi and me) that is how it is like at 5.30am in the morning... so we kinda have some "sunlight orientation" to adjust ourselves to..cos at 5.30am in SPore.. the sun is not even out and not that bright yet la...

Anywayz.. Orlango- its a fishing village that for the past few years of mission trip we will definitely make a trip there.. (Last year we were split into 2 teams and my team didnt manage to go as we were in iloilo) and I love Orlango....and looking at the pic above (at the port) you can see the reason why we love orlango....

Some snapshots of Orlango/ on the way there...

Church at Orlango
This is the church that we usually visit and also have our crusades and ministries in where we work with Pastor Rosila and Nellie..and this year there was Pastor victor too....its always nice to see them and i really like visiting Orlango church.. kinda sad that we din managed to stay overnight this year...
Street shots

Gladys was in charge of sharing with the children and i supported her in it.. and we gave out balloons to the kiddos and they were soooo happy.. The look on their faces to see us (some of them have grown sooo much since the last time we saw them) and many of those we saw the past few years have already grown up and either are in the city to Study or have been called to be fishermens like their father...

That's the way of life there... there's so much potential in the kiddos and the church there is doing a great job in harnessing their potential, teaching them basic/foundation for them to continue their education future.... Its good to see how the church there has grown.....

We had lunch with the church members there before we left for Lapulapu city..to have youth fellowship together with the youths there.... We had our favourite mangoes... but this year no SHelly-food... guess didnt had time too.. but yeah the food was great and it was absolutely great to be back at Orlango again.... would really wont mind staying longer in Orlango... but well God has other plans for us.. =)

Mission trip-Lapulapu

Mission Trip 2010-Lapu Lapu City
Pic above: airport send off
Its been almost 3 weeks since we came back from Cebu...So I shall start compiling my Mission trip pics and thoughts...

Well planning for this year's mission trip started in April.. initially only 2 or 3 signed up for it due to the crazy High price of the air tics to Cebu..but we prayed and decided to do a fund-raising as we have faith that if one is willing and wants to do God's work.. nothing can deter us.. So yupz more youths signed up and we kicked start our fund raising etc and by the end of it.. a total of 11 of us (including Pastor Rebecca) went for the mission trip..

God provided more than enough for us-each paid their own airfare but accomodation and food at Cebu were all taken care off by God!!

This year's theme was "One choice, One way...One God" we wanted to bring across the message that in life we are given many choices, but we have to make the one right choice... there are many ways to go but there's only one true way to eternal life... and its through One True God!!

First group of the team left on 11tth June on Friday night, while MeiMei and me left on Sat morning on 12th June... and hey they came by to airport to pick Meimei and me up... and yes finally after 15days of not seeing each other.. i was finally 'reunited' with Leongie.. (he was there much earlier since 28th May for work)...
The team had a warm welcome from Church of God (COG), Lapu Lapu... Pastor JA came by to pick them up from the airport....This year.. we didnt managed to hang around much in Lapu Lapu... our schedule was pretty packed and most days when we were in Lapu2.. it was times for rest and sleep... but we did had a Youth fellowship time with the youths of COG Lapu2 and that was fun...

COG Lapu Lapu Youths..
It was amazing that some of the youths actually recognises and remembers us... it really feels like family to be back there... the warm hospitality and the wonderful friendship we forged with friends there.....

The weather was hot indeed..but well kinda think I've grown used to it...haha it was more bearable then before...

Our transport around Lapu2
Yupz... nothing more to update about Lapu Lapu... stay tune for updates on other cities, towns, villages we visited.....

GEL kidz camp

GEL Kidz camp-June 2010
Just before Gellies went for mission trip... the church had a GEL-kidz camp... well Gladys was in charge of games...so a few of us (Sarah, Pearlyn, Starfish, Matt, Meilan, Carina) went down to give our support and help her out..

it was really heartwarming to see the ONz-ness of the few youths who went...though a few others and me had to go to work, school, army in the mornings, that didnt deter them from coming to GEL-kidz camp to help Gladys out and also support and show our support for the Church...

That's something that Leongie and me have discussed about... well sometimes though its not our duty or eg things like Christmas party last year which falls on our wedding anniversary date... we had a long discussion before we concluded that.. hey though GEL had our separate CHristmas event.. the CHristmas party which conincides with our wedding anniversary is part of our Church event too.. so we should and we ought to support.. so yupz.. the same for GEL Kidz camp or any other thing in church...

Its kinda sad to note that these days.. *not just our church* but in general... many are caught up with our own busy schedules that we kinda forgot that we are all called to do the same thing for Christ... and thus we start drawing boundaries clearly... my stand is-if we can support or be part of it.. we should.... so thanks gellies who were there =)I'm sure many of you were not there would have wanted to be there too if you could so yeah You go Gellies =)

Anywayz.. attending the GEL kidz camp was great... was amazing to see the little ones faith grow... the kids were cute and lovely...all of us really enjoyed playing with them and being there with them.....

My cutest and our hot favourite kiddo from camp...
My all time favourite Elliot and oh no.. i forgot her name
and well Kidz say the weirdest thing ever.. haha one said: "i dun wear panties to sleep at night..because my mummy dont wear too" hahahahahha anywayz... shant announce which is the kiddo that said that.. hahahah

At the marketplace...
Just thought I share a little about my new job....

In case you do not know.. Prior to me accepting this current job offer, another place offered me a position as well-as a Lecturer. Yes a lecturer… never imagined myself as one but yupz it was something I didn’t mind trying for, something new and probably has more potential to do new things.. But i guess weighing the pros and cons, and after going through long prayers and waiting upon God.. I decided to give up this Lecturer position and take up my current offer although the other one offered me a higher pay package and really do sounds more WOWz…and hey Lecturer leh… hahah

But wellz I ended up where I am.. 3rd month into my new job now.. so far so good.. but yup.. Wanted to share that Few weeks into my new job.. I kinda experience 'second thoughts' about if this job was really for me… kept thinking of friends in GH and miss the lunch khakis real loads… and from time to time the thoughts of “ hey if you had taken up the lecturer job… I think you will have more opportunities manz” do come and haunt me….

So one day, as I was reading God’s word, on my way to work (well this is the plus point about my new job too… I get to spend time in reading bible on my way to work, which I never had the chance to) this particular passage in Matthew 10:16-20 spoke to me:

“I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves. Be on your guard against men; they will hand you over to the local councils and flog you in their synagogues. On my account, you will be brought before governors and kings as witnesses to them and to the Gentiles. But when they arrest you, do not worry about what to say, or how to say it at that time you will be given what to say, for it will not be you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.”

When I read that.. I was like.. WOW.. God You are indeed amazing.. and I know now my purpose here in my new place(let’s call it Marketplace)… breaking down the versus:

I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves. Be on your guard against men; they will hand you over to the local councils and flog you in their synagogues
->This is very true of my situation. Where previously working in GH-everyone is ‘family-family’ and now in Marketplace.. One needs to be on his/her heels as its no longer as family as before and Now I enter the ‘corporate world’ thingy.. So yupz.. I need to be smart in my dealings and yet be humble and pure and innocent not be corrupted to do like the world does…

On my account, you will be brought before governors and kings as witnesses to them and to the Gentiles.
-> I believe this is sooo true too.. I am here at marketplace to be a lighthouse for Christ =)

But when they arrest you, do not worry about what to say, or how to say it at that time you will be given what to say, for it will not be you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.
->Well I always fear and worry about not knowing what to speak etc.. but yes it’s a reminder and assurance from God that hey.. I do not need to fear, because He will always be with me.. and will give me the wisdom and right words to speak..

So yes… since then.. I kinda look at myself being at Marketplace differently.. I now have something to look forward to every morning when I wake up and head to work… Just want to encourage all that the devil comes to steal, kill and destroy all that God has put in place.. but we must never fall prey to it but instead.

We should turn to God’s word and promises always… to know that we have a purpose in the very place God has place us to be at…

HELLLOOOO HAAAA

BAck from far far away....
Okies folks.. I wonder if anyone still come by to this site still.. Have not been ‘penning’ my thoughts here and been too busy till I kinda forgot about my blog…

So well after a 5 month long hiatus … I am here to say that I am BACK!! Back to the blogging world… to all is reading my blog still…

Well.. in case you haven't know.. I have changed job recently decided to leave my previous place for many reasons... of which one was for personal development and growth.

Looking back my 5.5 years in my previous organization.. I guess I’ve picked up many happy memories from the place… met many wonderful people there as well that I will keep as precious friends close to my heart…. And of cos I miss the kiddos I worked with for the past 5 years…. But well it was time to move on… so Here I am into my 3rd month of work in my new work place..

Pretty much similar to what I do at GH, but well I must say there is some adjustments here and there… less intensive in casework, but more intensive in reporting and case recordings etc. Less flexibility as compared to GH time but definitely more structure to work around… I’m not really a person who really likes structure..but thus far I am enjoying the structure to some extent.. probably due to the fact of too much flexibility and too much changes due to people’s moods etc in the past that I really am adjusting well to structure…

Work’s been fine thus far, meeting new colleagues but am missing my old lunch khakis real loads.. but well as I often think back about the friends I left behind at GH, I am reminded constantly about my purpose in my new workplace.. It’s not easy making adjustments, starting from ground zero and leaving the comfort zone that I am in for the past 5years.. but well When God calls.. when the cloud moves.. I have to move…

Anywayz, just want to give Glory to God for the provision He has given to me, the support I received and the job he has planned for me in preparing me for greater things to come.

I believe and I trust that He has greater plans in store for me and I know I am heading in the right direction because I serve a great God who provides, and directs my path and Iam still "work in progress"...
